Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22 In-depth Review:
The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22 is an ideal runner for road running, cross training, the gym or daily train. It is the best everyday training shoes for Over-Pronates. We liked the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22, this pair of shoes use the GuideRails technology which was introduced with the Adrenaline GTS 20.
Briefly, the GuideRails increases the stability of the shoe and prevents the excess ankle movements.
|What we liked the most on Adrenaline GTS 22|
|Super stable and supportive||✔|
|Smoother and softer than its predecessor (GTS 21)||✔|
|Updated Air Mesh Upper: Lighter / Breathable / Snug Fit||✔|
|Roomy for toe splay||✔|
|What we don’t like on Adrenaline GTS 22|
|Heavier than the average of the running shoes we tested||✗|
|Lacks responsiveness compared to its contenders in the same class||✗|
The new GTS 22 has lots of cushioning to absorb the impact, and highly supportive as well as the previous GTS line (Go-to-Support) of Brooks. For the injury prone runners, the Adrenaline GTS 22 included an extra lateral support.
Brooks removed the BioMoGo DNA foam and left only DNA Loft on the midsole of the Adrenalinge GTS 22. The BioMoGo was being implemented to provide responsiveness, and the DNA Loft is to provide softness in the midsole. So, you can assume that new Adrenaline GTS 22 is more comfortable and cushioned compared to its previous iteration, but it lacks responsiveness.
About the 3D Fit Print technology that the GTS 22 uses; the upper is re-created via 3D Fit Print. Now, it is more structured and reinforced. It is also quite breathable and lighter.
The Brooks Adrenaline 22 has a very smooth transition of heel to toe drop. It means effortless strides while keeping the comfort.
A final note: It runs narrow, but there are wide and extra wide versions available on GTS 22.
What is the reason for Over-Pronation?
The Over-Pronation is caused by weak glute muscles and unstable ankles. During running, ankles roll slightly by means of this. We recommend the running shoes which are designed against the over-pronation such as the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22.
The Books Adrenaline GTS 22 is equipped with GuideRails which prevent excess ankle movements. Therefore, it is the best against over pronation. Here is how the GuideRails Technology works on Brooks Adrenaline GTS:
Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22 vs 21: Updates & Key Differences
Here is the side by side comparison of Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22 vs 21 and key differences between them:
- To begin with, Adrenaline GTS 22 has minor changes compared to the Adrenaline GTS 21.
- In comparison to Adrenaline GTS 21, the cushion and the comfort is better on the Adrenaline GTS 22. Before the update, the BioMoGo was being used to add some responsiveness to the midsole of the shoe. However, the BioMoGo is also harder foam which compromises on the softness. On the updated version, Brooks removed the DNA BioMoGo Foam from the midsole. The new iteration, Adrenaline GTS 22 has only DNA Loft foam for cushioning whereas. Therefore, the new iteration is softer and more comfortable, however, it has less responsiveness compare to the GTS 21.
- The outsole structure and looking is the same. The functionality and the engineering of the outsole is the same. The GTS 22 has just cosmetic updates on its outsole in comparison to the GTS 21.
- The Upper of Adrenaline GTS 22 is updated to be lighter than the Adrenaline GTS 21. It is also less complicated.
- However, the laces of the Adrenaline GTS 22 are shorter than the GTS 21. The new GTS 22 would be excellent, if it had slightly longer laces to tie the knots.
