Long Story Short: Our Patagonia Nano Puff Jacket Review

Hello guys this is Eddie Ford! I bought Patagonia Nano Puff Jacket as a mid-layer for skiing as well as general wear.  This jacket seems super durable, lightweight, wind resistant, and dependable. I found out some little pieces of thread are finally showing wear but the Nano puff is still fully intact, no insulation lost, and it’s still super warm. It is warm, dry, and packable. Long story short, it is the layer perfection for skiing. Also, it doesn’t soak up your stank.

Once I got my first Nano Puff jacket, I had to order more! Because, someone was always borrowing my Nano Puff Jacket in my household. Now, my wife and both our kids have them and our Patagonia Nano Puff Jackets have become a winter staple of my family. Frankly, they are light enough and breathe very well to be appropriate for winter evenings, which can be cool but not cold, yet still be warm enough for winter break visits. They are comfortable, easily cleaned, pack small, and look nice.

My Personal Experience with Patagonia Nano Puff Jacket:

I ski in the maritime where minus 20 Celsius with a wind is not uncommon. I spent a week at Killington with some severe crosswinds at elevation. Then, there is Mont Sainte Anne where the temperature -35 is not uncommon. In these conditions, Patagonia Nano Puff Jacket under a layer of Gore-Tex was great. Indeed, this thing fast became my everyday jacket for stuff around home, and it is a killer for outdoor winter activities. It’s typical of Patagonia workmanship and care of product release.

My lovely family has owned a total of four Patagonia Nano Puffs now, 2 jackets and 2 hoodie. I feel like this is the most go to piece of Patagonia gear that everyone who spends any time outdoors should own. Now, I wanted to talk about the some open areas available for improvements.

My Insights for Nano Puff Jacket

Those are not deal breaker but I want to point out some insights of mine:

• One small design upgrade that would make these pieces perfect: when you have the side pockets unzipped the baffle stitching on the sleeves that run parallel to the length of the sleeves will start to snag on the teeth of the zippers on the pockets. The same thing is happening to my wife’s jacket as well. This results in pulled threads, torn threads, and baffles ultimately coming unstitched altogether. I would suggest Patagonia to design these feature so that the side pocket zippers are more in a hidden condition, or at least protected by another layer of material to avoid the threads of the sleeves getting snagged.
• Not only for Patagonia Nano Puff Jacket but also for most Patagonia items, anything fits large, looks awesome in the shoulders. However, in this condition, it is too roomy around the waist.

My verdict, it keeps me warm in harsh weathers, I love the fit and look. It is an excellent jacket. I highly recommend Patagonia Nano Puff Jacket, since this outdoor gear stands very well considering price vs performance.

• I bought this for my husband & he wears a small. After measuring him, it was determined he would need a medium. The medium fits perfect! We are in GA, so he needed a lightweight puffer & this is perfect for our weather!
• This is my fifth nano puff. I have three jackets and two vests. They wear like iron except theyre comfortable and wind proof and rain resistant. The one improvement that I would recommend is the breast pocket is a little loose and sloppy for my phone. Otherwise all is good.
• I have not tested out the jacket yet but I can share some Input on the fit. Im 57, at 190lbs and the Large size fits good. I have a wider back and chest so the large feels comfortable with room to layer. Also, I can fit a fleece underneath comfortably. I tend to have bigger arms so the sleeves and arm holes feel just right with enough flexibility, not feeling constricted. The jacket does seem to tapper out, I do have a bit of a gut (not huge) but never the less the jacket still provides plenty of room around the abdomen area. Hope this helps.
